Able and Game make cards and stationery that are quirky and cute rather than cliche and predictable. They are Melbourne based designers so that makes them extra special! I first saw their stuff when received a “i’d go to zone 2 for you” on my anniversary. I’ve notice these cards popping up all over the CBD. They are unique and each their own story to tell. They cards for for round USD$4 each, bulk discounts are available for their Etsy store.

I was walking back to the car after dinner on Elizabeth Street and I looked up at something hanging off the wooden telegraph pole. A quick picture, some admiration and I was on my way. Later I twittered the image and a mate sent me a link the junky project.
In the words of special agent junatronic: junky is an enigmatic street art avenger who creates creatures from the debris of society, then resurrects them onto wooden telegraph poles and other forgotten places around the globe, (well around Australia so far). All my work is made entirely from recycled or found objects except the nails, i can never find enough nails. I found that there was a bit of a following for my work here on flickr, so i decided to open an account and upload my documentation of this ongoing project. All hail the mighty junky army, for soon there global invasion will be complete. Piece.
Keep an eye out in Melbourne town, or any where through the east coast for that matter.

Whilst recently in Sydney, I took some time to check out a current MCA exhibition: I Walk The Line – New Australian drawing. This collection of mostly young Australian artists brings together some amazing images. As you enter the exhibition space you are face to face with Richard Lewer’s 7 metre, incredibly bold piece! The image above will give you an idea of the scale of this drawing. At the base of the drawing were various spent pieces of pencil and charcoal.

The work of Laith McGregor (pictured left: Untitled, 2008), was so detailed. Utilising nothing more than biro on paper, I could have stared at his mirrored drawings for hours. His second drawing “Hex 2008″ which depicts six bearded men each with their own story to tell, truly amazing.
Dorota Mytych‘s work was stunning with ant like figures making up the greater image. I was also in awe of the news-roll style work of Locust Jones, Everyday Atrocities which curved around the entire room. There was so much depth in this drawing that it would literally take you months to discover all that us has to offer.
If you are in Sydney do take the time to get along to see this one. There are some amazing drawings on show! The show is running from 17 March – 24 May 2009 at the MCA in Sydney. Admission is FREE.
