Tomorrow on Friday the 13th August, UNSENSORED10 opens. Presented by the Melbourne Silver Mine, UNSENSORED10 is all about analogue photography this year features over 70 works.

A couple of days ago I was digging through the archives as I was freaking out about not having an shot for UNSENSORED10 (which is 2 weeks away!). I came across this little baby. I vaguely remember shooting it first the footpath whilst I waiting for Timi to take a photo of tourist. Then standing up nice and close to the underneath the face for the second layer. I don’t know why I didn’t originally upload it. But it was still a nice find a year or so on.

We decided to watch the sun set over the ocean. I rarity for us east coast dwellers. Unfortunately it all fizzled out when the sun sunk beneath this body of clouds. In the minutes before this is Tim lining up a shot of beautiful sky line and turtle island.

It’s Roid Week again! This time Fall as the yanks like to call it – but for us in the Southern end of the planet…it’s Spring!! This is my first addition for Roid Week 09 Spring. It was taken in Wilson’s Prom on the Loo-Errn Track, on a very cloudy, overcast day. Using my trusty one step and polaroid 600 expired film. Bring on the rest of the week!

Now in its third year, The Melbourne Silver Mine’s UNSENSORED09 is the work of 44
artists using film in their photographic expression.

The spectrum of methods, genres and statements in the exhibited works are as broad
as the spectrum of artists, and visitors can expect everything from the polished to the lo-fi,
avant garde to traditional, shot on equipment from modern to nigh-arcane. Film is the
common thread in the group: each artist exploits the nuances of film-based capture in
tandem with new post-analogue processes and methods.

Works will be available for purchase during the exhibition, and many of the artists will
be present through the duration of the show and on opening night.

Unsensored07 saw 12 photographers presenting work, which doubled in 2008.
Unsensored expands once again in 2009, continuing to showcase new works by
emerging photographers. Unsensored09 is a project of The Melbourne Silver Mine,
a non-profit incorporated association based in Melbourne, Australia.

The group was formed by a group of enthusiastic analogue photographers. Its purpose
is to encourage and promote the continued use, unique features and appreciation of
traditional photographic techniques and equipment.

I will be exhibiting recent works of the Heavenly Queen on the banks of the Maribyrnong River. Which was shot using my trusty Holga 120n and some expired Fujichrome Velvia 100 @ ISO 100.

Your outpouring of support–whether on Flickr forums, blogs, or savejpg.com–demonstrated to the world (along with the investment community) that JPG is simply too special and unique to vanish. Our new investors agree with you–and believe strongly in the potential of JPG as a business. So I’m looking forward to working with them to creatively drive revenues while enhancing the quality of the JPG experience. I’m also looking forward to working with our Premier Community Partner, Adorama, to develop wonderful opportunities for all of you to reach a broader audience as well as better engage around the photography equipment you use and love. More on that to come!

Secondly, please be patient with us. While it’s very exciting to be able to continue operating this website and the broader business of 8020 Media, it’s going to take a little bit of time to get our operations back up and running at 100%. Therefore, it may take longer than normal to get responses from JPG Support or resolve issues that may have arisen with the website in the past 60 days. Thanks for your understanding on this.

The recent events at 8020 Media have given us a rare opportunity to step back, better understand the business, and develop a strategic plan that drives revenues while giving back to all of you–our incredible community members, without whom this site simply wouldn’t exist.
